Your MobalPay card can be used for transactions in overseas currencies (e.g. USD, GBP), however a 4% international transaction fee will be applied to each transaction made in a currency that is not Japanese Yen (JPY).
For payments you make in JPY, there are no transaction fees.
Will these additional fees be applied when using the card in Japan?
No, your MobalPay card is a Japanese-issued Mastercard, so there are no transaction charges when using your card for JPY transactions.
Why is there a discrepancy between the “Pending” and the “Confirmed” transaction amount?
If your MobalPay card is used outside of Japan, you may notice some discrepancies between the “Pending” and the “Confirmed” amounts when checking your usage history from your online account.
This is due to the ever-changing exchange rates that are applied for each foreign currency and unfortunately, this is out of our control.
