The ‘Japan Voice + Data SIM Card’ product we offer utilizes the Softbank network and as this network no longer offers 3G coverage (Softbank started decommissioning their 3G services on April 15th 2024), your device must support the ‘Voice Over LTE’ (VoLTE) feature in order to place and receive calls.

Unfortunately however, there are also some handsets that support VoLTE but do not appear to be compatible with the VoLTE service provided by the Softbank network.

If your device is listed below, our extensive testing has found that you may not be able to place / receive calls when using this service.

If your device is affected by this issue and you require the ability to place / receive calls, we can only recommend that you use an alternative method to place a call (such as WhatsApp or FaceTime for example) or that you consider switching to an alternative handset.

In your email, please provide us with the make / model of your device and your current location. Please also include screenshots of your current APN profile settings and of the ‘Mobile Networks’ menu (the section showing your current ‘Network Mode’ / ‘Preferred Network Type’ setting and any settings related to VoLTE).
