Welcome to Mobal! We’re excited to help you activate your Voice+Data eSIM and enjoy seamless connectivity in Japan. Follow these simple steps to get started:
Step 1: Log In to your Mobal MyAccount
To activate your Mobal eSIM, log in to your Mobal online account by visiting: www.mobal.com/myaccount
Once you have logged in to your online account, go to the Services section and then click on the Activate button next to the relevant service.
Step 2: Find Your eSIM Access Code and EID
You will have received your eSIM Access Code either in the mail, or from a Mobal Pick-Up point in Japan. The eSIM Access Code is an 8-character code with letters and numbers (e.g. ABCD1234).
The EID is a 32-digit number found in your device’s settings:
iPhone: Settings > About > EID
Android: Settings > About/General > Information/Status Information > EID
Alternative Method: Dial *#06# on your phone and note down the EID displayed. If copying is not allowed, use the settings method mentioned above.
Step 3: Transferring a phone number
If you have a Japanese phone number from another service provider that you would like to transfer to the Mobal eSIM, please also select the “Yes, I want to keep my existing phone number” option.
You will then be required to enter your current Japanese phone number, the MNP reservation code / MNP code expiry date (which you will be required to retrieve from your current service provider), your name and your date of birth.
Once you have entered the required information, you can then click on the “Continue” button.
Step 4: Choose Your Plan / Activation Date
You can then follow the prompts to choose your required activation date and the plan that you wish to select.
We offer both Long Term and Short Term plans but please be advised that the option to transfer a phone number will only be available when selecting a long term plan.
Long Term Plans (90 days or more):
Choose a plan that suits your needs. Your service remains active until canceled from your Mobal online account (MyAccount).
Short Term Plans (90 days or less):
Enjoy 7GB of high speed data each calendar month. Your service automatically disconnects at the end of your selected 30, 60 or 90 day plan.
Once you have made your selection, you can then proceed to the next steps.
Step 5: Payment
Short Term Plans: Pay upfront for the selected period. Your service will auto-disconnect at the end of the short term plan you have selected.
Long Term Plans: Pay a partial amount covering your initial billing period (for service between the activation date and the end of the current month). All plan fees after the initial fee will be billed in full on the 1st of each month.
Please note that your usage reports are passed on to us with a delay (of approximately 1-2 months) and so you will be charged for your usage with a delay.
You can then submit your activation request.
Step 6: Install Your eSIM
Once your eSIM has been activated, you’ll receive an email containing a QR code to install your eSIM.
Scan the QR Code to install your eSIM or follow the steps below to install your eSIM manually:

iPhone Manual Installation
- Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data > Add eSIM
- Tap ‘Use QR Code’
- Tap ‘Enter Details Manually’
- Enter the ‘SM-DP+ Address’: sm-v4-004-a-gtm.pr.go-esim.com and leave the ‘Activation Code’ field blank
- Tap ‘Next’
Android Manual Installation
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Card Manager
- Tap ‘Add mobile plan’
- Tap ‘Scan carrier QR code’
- Tap ‘Enter activation code’ or ‘Add’
- Enter the Activation Details as above
- Tap ‘Continue’
Your eSIM is connected to your phone’s EID. You must install your eSIM onto the device EID you entered when you requested activation of your service.
Your eSIM can only be installed once. If you delete your eSIM, you must purchase a new eSIM.
