Currently, your Mobal World Phone/SIM service will use either 2G or 3G networks. The type of network used will depend on your location.

As can be expected, technology advances over time and older services become obsolete. Considering the restrictions of 2G (first launched in 1991!) and the improvements provided by 3G and 4G coverage (launched in 2001 and 2010 respectively), a number of service providers have decided to shutdown their older 2G networks.

As a result, in some countries a 3G compatible phone is required. This now applies in Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

Will my Mobal World Phone work in the countries no longer supporting 2G?

The following Mobal World Phones all have 3G (900/2100Mhz) compatibility so if you have one of the following you should be able to connect to a network when in a coverage area:

Blu Zoey 2.4 3G, Advance 4.0 L/L2/L3, Studio C 5+5 / G HD / Grand X
Motorola X1032 (Moto G)
Samsung GT-E3210/E3309, Galaxy S7390/G310HN/I8160

Regrettably, the following Mobal World Phones are not 3G compatible so you will need to upgrade your phone to be able to register to a network in the applicable countries:

Blu Zoey, LG GU230
Motorola WX160, L2/L6/L6i
Samsung GT-E1050, E1080i, E1200M, E2530
Siemens A70, C72, C110

I never purchased my phone from Mobal, is my SIM affected?

You will need to check the specifications of your phone. If your phone is compatible with 3G (UMTS) 2100Mhz then your Mobal SIM should be able to connect to a network in the countries listed. For Australia, additionally having 900Mhz compatibility is recommended.
